Chiropractic Techniques

Chiropractors focus on dysfunctions called subluxations that can result in irregularities in spinal structure or movement. They rely heavily on hands-on procedures to determine structural and functional problems; they use adjustments to promote normal bodily function correcting or preventing these structural subluxations. There are many techniques to perform adjustments of the spinal and extremity joints.

At Advanced Chiropractic Wellness Center we pride ourselves in using many different techniques to address the concerns of our many different patients. These techniques include but are not limited to:

Diversified Technique is the classic chiropractic technique of adjusting that uses specific lines of drive for all manual thrusts. These thrusts are movements of short amplitude and high velocity that move the joint just beyond where the muscles could move the joints by themselves. Diversified technique allows for specificity in correcting mechanical misalignments of the spine, thus allowing for optimal movement and function of the spine.

Activator Technique of adjusting corrects subluxations of the spine by using a small tool, which delivers a light and measured force. It is a gentle and painless technique that many people prefer or need a light force adjustment.

Thompson Technique utilizes a segmental drop table to enhance the motion force needed to adjust the vertebral segment. The drop table takes advantage of the spine's inherent design to move the subluxation in the direction that will improve the motion of the spine.

Positional Release Therapy is a manual technique that restores a muscle to its normal resting tone. Assessment of trigger points allows identification of hypertonic muscles that are creating segmental dysfunction. Patients are passively placed in positions that approximate the origin and insertion of the hypertonic muscle. By doing so, the patient’s muscle is allowed to relax and assume a normal resting tone. This allows relaxation of the tight tense muscles that cause discomfort.

Advanced Chiropractic also uses a number of adjunctive procedures (such as heat, massage, stretching, and pressure point therapy) to relax a person’s muscles before and adjustment. The skeletal and muscular components of the body are inseparable, therefore; it is very important to address both aspects of a person’s body to achieve the best results possible.
